Good Coffee--Good Times
There is nothing like a good cup of coffee. When you are relaxing with friends, coffee sets the mood for great conversation. A morning or afternoon break isn’t complete without a good cup of coffee. It gets you going in the morning, and hits the spot after a fine meal and rich dessert.  Good times with good friends calls for good coffee.

Roasting your own coffee--a must for the ultimate cup of coffee!

Roasting your own beans is easy, enjoyable and provides a flavor that cannot be matched. Every batch that I have done gets rave reviews from everyone who tastes it (including some non-coffee drinkers!) The only downside is that you may have some who, like my son can no longer drink coffee that is not freshly roasted. (We simply got him his own beans and showed him how to use his hot air popper to make coffee as good as Dad’s.)

If you are new to the idea of roasting your own coffee beans, we have a complete tutorial here, which walks you through all the basics of roasting, including some things you can do to give your coffee your own flavor profile and make it uniquely yours.  If you don't have a roaster, you can use a hot air popper to roast coffee beans.  Check our our tutorial on how to use your popper to get the best tasting coffee you have ever had.  Don't have a hot air popper?  You are still not out of luck.  While not as convenient to use as a roaster, you can roast beans on your stove top.  It's a great way to start out learning how to roast coffee, and it will allow you to take your coffee experience to the next level.  We walk you through how to do it with our tutorial.

Great coffee starts with great beans!

The perfect coffee beans for your perfect coffee

Why choose green coffee beans and roast your own?  If you are an experienced roaster, you know the answer to this.  It all comes down to flavor.  Ground coffee begins to lose flavor immediately, and roasted coffee loses flavor after a few days.  When you buy ground coffee at the store, even if the can is vacuum packed to lock in flavor, as soon as you open it, the vacuum is lost and the coffee flavor begins deteriorating.  When you buy pre-roasted coffee beans, the freshest you can buy are several days old at least.  Who really knows how long they have been sitting on the store shelf (not to mention how long they were at the wholesaler's before they got to the store where you bought them.)

Green coffee beans on the other hand can be stored for a year or more without losing any quality.  When you roast them, and then grind them right before brewing them, you have a freshness that is not achievable any other way, and is noticeable in cup after cup of great tasting coffee.

So which beans do you choose and how dark do you roast them for the best flavor?  That is totally up to you.  After all, the ultimate cup of coffee is what you think the ultimate cup of coffee is.  Some prefer the sweetness of the Columbians, some prefer the boldness of the Tanzanian Peaberry, some like to roast the Guatemalan dark for those chocolate nuances, and some like to blend different beans and different roasts to get the best of several worlds.  Your coffee experience is a personal experience, and you alone decide what is the best, and experimenting with different beans and roasting profiles provides a delicious journey as you search for your ultimate cup of coffee.  Your journey begins here with our selection of coffee beans delivered direct to you.

Roasters, Grinders and Brewers for your ultimate cup of coffee

OK, you have decided that, yes, roasting your own coffee is the way to go, and you have selected your beans.  Now what?  You could use a pot on the stove to roast them, use a spoon to mash them up and throw them in a cup of hot water and drink it...but there really is a better way.  We have talked about roasting coffee beans on your stove top, and in your hot air popper.  Those are good options of for those of you just starting out.   But using a coffee roaster such as the i-Roast 2 is a better option as it gives you much more control over the roasting process it allows you to try variations easier and when you discover the roasting steps that make an outstanding roast, the i-Roast 2 will remember those steps, allowing you to enjoy that perfect roast anytime.

Now that you have roasted your coffee, you could use a spoon to mash them up, but a coffee grinder works much, much better.  When we talk about coffee grinders, we discuss blade vs. burr grinders.  We only sell burr grinders as they provide a more uniform grind with less heat resulting in a more flavorful cup of coffee.

So, your coffee is now ready to brew, and the question is what do you use to brew it.  Check out our coffee brewing equipment page.  Whether  you want to make cappuccinos or lattes, or simply the best cup of coffee you have ever had,  we have what you need.  Whichever you choose, as long as you are using freshly roasted, freshly ground coffee, you will have the best cup of coffee you have ever had.  You may even say "goodbye" to those fancy overpriced coffee shops!
