Coffee Roasters
If you are looking to have the best coffee you can, you simply need to roast your own at home. In looking at coffee roasters, there are two types--fluid bed (hot air) and drum. Drum roasters, in general will have a larger capacity than fluid bed roasters, which is why most commercial roasters use the drum type. As far as the roast profile goes, the differences between the two types has diminished over time--especially as Hearthware has developed and refined the i-Roast. Drum roasters used to have a longer roast time than fluid bed roasters. A longer roast time gives coffee more body. A shorter roast time gives coffee more acidity, and stronger flavor. The i-Roast now has temperature controls that allow you to vary the length of the roast cycle to roast for more body, or more acidity or any combination of the two--whatever your taste determines gives you better coffee. It comes with two pre-set roast profiles--a shorter, hotter cycle, and a longer cooler one. It is also completely customizable, so whether you are a techie or a newbie, this roaster will work well for you. Because the i-Roast 2 has the controls and quality that allow you to get whatever type of roast you want, and comes in at about half the price of a comparable drum roaster, we recommend and offer the i-Roast 2 for sale here.
